MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co Limited in Barrie, Ontario is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Helper to join our maintenance team. The role blends routine custodial duties with project work, including cleaning, waste removal, pallet recycling, and general plant upkeep in a manufacturing environment.

You will support the Maintenance Lead Hand, perform daily checks, snow and grounds maintenance, and assist with basic construction and repairs.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Education or Certificate of Completion.
• One (1) + Years’ experience manufacturing environment maintenance/custodial work.
• Fall-arrest and Working at Heights experience is an asset.
• Forklift experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Remove garbage, recycling, and damaged pallets from production/warehouse areas.
• General custodial duties including cleaning railings, machines, windows, etc.
• Snow removal and grounds maintenance as required.
• Assist Lead Hand and peers with project work, maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Back-fill for custodian during vacation or absence.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping principles.
• Cross-train in other departments as available.

POSITION TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Helper

SHIFT: Afternoon Shift & Weekend Shift

LOCATION: Barrie, Ontario

About the Position:

The Facilities Maintenance Helper position involves a mixture of routine duties and project work as assigned and scheduled by the Maintenance Lead Hand. This includes taking garbage / recycling, and damaged wooden pallets to scrap bins, general plant custodial duties (cleaning railings, machines, windows, etc.), performing various daily checks, snow removal, lawn / yard maintenance. Project work may include building, fabricating, painting, repairing, running errands, and assisting peers with general handyman work as required. This position requires the following proficiencies:

• Remove garbage/recycling, and damaged wooden pallets from production and warehouse work areas using carts and/or forklift to dispose in scrap bins.
• General custodial services using various cleaning supplies and equipment, including operation of floor cleaning equipment (i.e. sweeper and scrubber), and scissor lift, as certified in production and warehouse.
• Snow removal and grounds maintenance as required, using municipal vehicle and sweeping/snow removal attachments, snow blower, shovel, de-icing, lawn mower, leaf blower, etc.
• Assist Facilities Lead Hand and/or peers with various project work, general construction, preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs as required.
• Back-fill for custodian during vacation or absence, or as required.
• Always Implement and maintain 5S housekeeping principles.
• Cross-train in other departments as available.

About You:

The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with the following qualifications:

• Minimum High School Education or Certificate of Completion
• Diploma or Degree in a related discipline is an asset
• One (1) + Years’ experience working safely in a manufacturing environment using equipment in a maintenance, mechanical, or custodial capacity.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pick up supplies as needed
• Fall-arrest and Working at Heights experience is an asset.
• Forklift experience is an asset.

This position is for the following shift(s):

Afternoon Shift: 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday (4 x 10 hour shifts)

Weekend Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday (3 x 12 hour shifts)
