POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the position performs a variety of machine operation duties within the manufacturing facility. These major duties include but are not limited to; operating finishing equipment (perch, calendar, singer, stenterframe), welding sleeves, punching rings, slitting, and cutting, as well as assisting in the needle board area as required. The remaining points are inserted under the duties and responsibilities section.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Responsible for operating finishing equipment, to perform heat setting, coatings and inspection to meet ISO standards.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and setup equipment as per machine layouts to complete the finishing of fabrics. In addition, set up inspection equipment to inspect and market defects of slit rolled good fabrics.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and operate small equipment for fabricated goods, such as DILO, resign treating, welded sleeves, punch press, slitting and cutting of fabrics.
- Record and enter data into ERP system using scanners and computers, based on work orders.
- Perform basic maintenance, repair, and cleaning duties of all equipment.
- Participate in providing coverage for all areas within the manufacturing facility.
- Participate in creating a safe work environment at all times.
- Follow and comply with company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Create a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma – at a minimum. Post-secondary education is an asset
- 5+ years’ experience operating industrial machinery, in a manufacturing environment
- ERP system experience; scanning work orders and entering job order data
- Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.
- Health and Safety aware to minimize risk of injury from equipment.
- Ability to work shifts with varying start and end times.
