Job summary

TG Minto Corporation, a Toyoda Gosei division in Palmerston, Ontario, seeks an Automation Programmer/Engineer for robotics, PLC/HMI, and vision systems in a plastic injection molding environment. You will troubleshoot and optimize automation across production lines with a hands-on approach.

The role requires a Robotics and Automation diploma or equivalent, with 5 years in a similar role, and offers extensive benefits and a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a similar automation role.
  • Experience programming, integration and support of robotics and PLC/HMI systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production and project-related challenges in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Program and integrate industrial robots (Fanuc, Motoman) for new and existing equipment.
  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications (Beckhoff, Omron, Allen‑Bradley).
  • Configure and support vision systems (Keyence, Cognex, Fanuc).
  • Create electrical schematics (AutoCAD, EPlan).
  • Wire and assemble low‑voltage control panels to design standards.
  • Integrate robotic and automation equipment for reliable operations.
  • Set up industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, PROFINET).
  • Install and maintain automated machinery, conveyors and vision systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams and contractors.
  • Support injection molding specialists during launches and upgrades.

General Job Description

This role is responsible for the programming, integration, and support of industrial automation systems, including robotics, PLC’s, HMI’s and low-voltage control systems within a plastic injection molding environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic manufacturing setting, and take a proactive, hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and resolving both production and project-related challenges efficiently and professionally.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Wage range - $28.12 ~ $43.26 per hour
  • Paid overtime after 40/hours per week

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Program and integrate industrial robots, including Fanuc and Motoman for both new and existing equipment.
  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications using platforms such as Beckhoff, Omron, and Allen-Bradley.
  • Configure and support vision systems, including Keyence, Cognex, and Fanuc.
  • Create and revise electrical schematics using AutoCAD & EPlan.
  • Assemble and wire low‑voltage control panels in accordance with electrical design standards.
  • Integrate robotic & automation equipment, focusing on seamless functionality and system reliability.
  • Set up and maintain industrial communication networks, including Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, and PROFINET.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain automated machinery, including robotic systems, assembly lines, packaging equipment, conveyors, and vision inspection systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist injection molding specialists during new product launches and equipment upgrades.
  • Interpret and apply information from electrical schematics and technical documentation
Education and Qualifications
  • Robotics and Automation diploma, Technologist diploma in Electrical engineering, Industrial Electrician license, Electronics Technician Certificate or equivalent training and experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 5 years of experience in a similar role required. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Report any unsafe activities within the company to the machine group supervisor.
  • Responsible to schedule and supervise third party contractors during installation projects.
Language Skills
  • English and able to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to communicate with skilled trades at all levels of experience and management
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to exercise balanced judgment in evaluation situations and making decisions
