Job description

Reports to: Maccess Director

Term: Sept 1 to April 30

Hours: 5-8 hours per week

Maccess aims to build and maintain a campus that celebrates, advocates, and ensures inclusiveness in the area of disability. We provide programming and events in an effort to establish a sense of community for those that self-identify as having disabilities or as disabled. In addition, Maccess strives to advocate on the behalf of students in a proactive and affirmative fashion and provide educational programming on and opportunities to learn about critical disability studies.

The Training and Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the recruitment of new volunteers, as well as the scheduling and coordination of volunteers and executives. The Training and Volunteer Coordinator will work with the Maccess Coordinator to create a supportive community of volunteers, who will help facilitate, maintain and advertise the Maccess space, social events, workshops and campaigns. The Training and Volunteer Coordinator will also coordinate with executive members well in advance of events and campaigns to organize volunteers in a thoughtful and resourceful way. The Training and Volunteer Coordinator will work with the Maccess Coordinator and the Training Resources Research Assistant to design and facilitate training for Maccess volunteers once a semester.
