Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is seeking a Medical Affairs Global Strategic Brand Lead.

Description:

The Medical Affairs Global Strategic Brand Lead (MA GSBL) is a key member of the Asset Maximization Team and co-leads the Global Co-creation Team (GCT). Collaborating with the Commercial Global Brand Lead (GBL) and Development Asset Lead (AL), the MA GSBL drives the global value of a brand, focusing on long-term asset value, portfolio strategy, and lifecycle management to maximize potential. The role involves providing medical input into brand strategy, leading the Core Medical Team (CMT), and facilitating agile development of the Core Medical Plan (CMP), ensuring seamless execution that balances global objectives with local needs. As Benefit Risk Team (BRT) chair, the MA GSBL also leads and defends assessments related to the product’s benefit/risk profile.

Essential Job Duties:
Strategic Leadership:
  • Lead the co-creation of the Integrated Global Brand Plan (iGBP) with cross-functional experts and affiliates.
  • Develop Medical Product Strategy (MPS) and facilitate agile CMP development.
  • Contribute to the creation of the Integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP).
  • Define and oversee brand objectives with medical KPIs aligned with global and local strategies.
  • Co-lead the development of Global Launch Plans and present to executive leadership.
  • Ensure readiness for product launches through Readiness Review meetings.
  • Lead Medical input for Lifecycle Management (LCM) strategies and Loss of Exclusivity (LOE) planning.
Medical Affairs Excellence:
  • Lead a high-impact CMT, accountable for evidence generation and dissemination, including budget management.
  • Enable affiliates to deliver on non-evidence tactics, encouraging dialogue for local needs.
  • Oversee all evidence generation activities supporting the brand strategy.
  • Implement the Integrated Evidence Dissemination Plan with strong scientific messaging.
  • Support execution of the global launch plan with KPIs and metrics.
  • Lead assessments of the product’s Benefit/Risk profile, representing BRT at committees.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Foster collaboration across functions via Agile touchpoints.
  • Work with Commercial, R&D, Market Access, and other teams to align strategies.
  • Partner with R&D to influence asset development and clinical viability.
  • Communicate insights from advisory interactions and field medical activities.
  • Drive integration and alignment across geographies and functions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders, including experts and advocacy groups.
  • Represent the company at external forums and industry partnerships.
Coaching and Team Development:
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering competencies and behaviors aligned with company values.
  • Lead cultural and operational transformation initiatives.
Compliance and Ethics:
  • Ensure adherence to policies and regulations, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
