The M1 Operator is a key frontline position accountable for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of fiber production during their assigned shift. This role supports the Team Lead(s), Module 1 by executing on the day-to-day operations, driving team performance through operational excellence, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and serving as the primary points of execution for all operational matters during their shift. The Operators are also accountable for mentoring and training new and existing team members, contributing to a high-performance and values-driven team culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. General
- Provide direct, hands-on operational activity and support for the shift team, ensuring smooth coordination of all operational activities in Module 1.
- Work with the Team Lead to coordinate shift breaks, execution of assigned tasks, and handovers between shifts.
- Meet or exceed expectations and timelines for work completion as set by the Team Lead while maintaining focus on overall shift objectives and daily targets.
- Work with the Team Lead to ensure proper coverage of all required tasks and responsibilities throughout the shift, shifting work focus and activities as necessary based on evolving priorities.
2. Operations & Technical Oversight
Complete daily production activities, ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently within defined process parameters.Actively operate and monitor fiber production equipment; respond to abnormal behavior (e.g., unusual sounds, performance drops, or smells) and escalate to maintenance or management as required.Perform light troubleshooting and routine maintenance activities when needed in alignment with standard operating procedures.3. Health, Safety & Environmental Stewardship
Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.Identify and mitigate safety risks and hazards in real time. Take corrective actions and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation.Participate in and contribute to regular safety briefings and lead by example in promoting a proactive safety culture.4. Training & Competency Development
Actively train and onboard new team members as directed by the Team Lead, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production protocols.Continuously develop and improve required skills through active participation, coaching, feedback, and structured learning opportunities.Participate in informal knowledge checks and performance assessments to ensure operational readiness and excellence.5. Communication & Reporting
Attend daily shift meetings to understand priorities, expectations, and any operational or safety updates.Maintain accurate and timely communication with the Team Lead, Module 1 and other stakeholders (e.g., maintenance, logistics, quality).Ensure shift logs, incident reports, and production records are completed and submitted as required.6. Production & Material Accountability
Monitor and record production output, yield, and waste using designated systems (e.g., Cortex) as per SOPs and direction from the Team Lead or Management.Ensure that all materials are properly labeled, stored, and tracked throughout the production cycle.Provide accurate data for KPI tracking and operational reporting.Ensure operational areas are clean, neat, and tidy, including all workspaces, floors, and equipment.Ensure that all materials are properly labeled and stored within Module 1.Shift Throughput Rate : Length of fiber and precursor produced per shift.Unplanned Downtime : Duration and frequency of unplanned equipment stoppages.Safety Incidents : Number and severity of safety violations or incidents.Training Compliance : Percentage of up-to-date training and competencies.Core Competencies
