Job Posting Overview

This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply if it conflicts with their current LTO. All LTO assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2 weeks' notice.

Qualifications/Requirements

A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with the Waterloo Region District School Board requires passing a Physical Demands test. All job offers are conditional on passing this test, applicable to EA/CYW candidates without Permanent/LTO level D hours.

Educational Assistant Qualifications
  • Certified Teachers
  • Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Developmental Service Worker (DSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Social Services Diploma (SSW) from an accredited post-secondary institution
Alternative EA Qualifications with Experience

Various pathways include degrees or certificates in sociology, child-related disciplines, or related fields, with a minimum of one year (1,224 hours) of related work experience supporting children with special needs. Volunteer experience may be considered in lieu of work experience.
