Overview

LTO EA Level D – Extended Day After School – 7.5 hrs/wk Sandowne

This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply to this posting if it will conflict with their current LTO. All Long Term Occasional assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2-weeks notice. Responsibilities

This posting description focuses on the role responsibilities for an Extended Day program assistant and related duties as assigned by the school administration. Specific responsibilities are determined by the site and may include supervision, support for students' daily activities, and collaboration with teaching staff in accordance with WRDSB policies.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with WRDSB requires passing a Physical Demands test. All offers are conditional on passing all components of this test (applies to EA/CYW without Permanent/LTO level D hours).
  • Educational background: Certified Teachers Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma; Developmental Service Worker (DSW); Bachelor of Social Work (BSW); Social Services Diploma (SSW) or equivalent as accredited by a post-secondary institution.
  • Alternative EA qualifications with experience: post-secondary degree in Sociology with minimum 1 year (1,224 hours) related work experience supporting special needs children; or minimum six-month diploma/certificate with 1 year (1,224 hours) related work experience; significant relevant volunteer experience may be considered.
  • Assets: Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification; experience working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities; school-based experience; Autism Spectrum Disorder training; lifting/positioning training.

Additional Information

For staff screening and police record checks; employees in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check on or before the fifth anniversary of the most recent check, plus an annual offence declaration.
