Job summary

The Erb Group is seeking an AZ/Class 1 driver for Canada-wide operations, including Ontario and Quebec routes with potential U.S. cross-border work. You will be responsible for safe driving, on-time deliveries, trip planning, and accurate paperwork.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year of AZ/Class 1 experience, can pass pre-employment screenings, and can provide CVOR, driver abstract and license. PPE is provided, and safety compliance is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year verifiable AZ/Class 1 driving experience.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and health survey.
• CVOR, Driver abstract and license copy provided at interview.
• Criminal record check required.
• PSP (Pre-Employment Screening Program) must be completed.
• FMCSA Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse results required.
• PPE provided by The Erb Group.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely in all road and weather conditions and temperatures.
• Deliver freight per schedule and company policy.
• Plan trips for long-haul runs.
• Cross-border with a FAST card or valid passport when required.
• Communicate with dispatch for pickups, deliveries, or inquiries.
• Perform pre-trip inspections ensuring safety of equipment.
• Coordinate with shop for maintenance needs.
• Complete required paperwork per policy.
• Adhere to hours of service and applicable regulations.
• Label and identify freight properly.
• Load and unload freight safely and professionally.
• Operate onboard telematic device and electronic log.
• Attend Driver Safety meetings.
• Other duties as required.

SUMMARY

Valid AZ/Class 1 license required. Drive cross border and various locations to deliver and/or pick up product. Move freight between terminal locations. Fill out all required paperwork. Represent Erb Transport professionally and give the best customer service possible.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible to drive safely in all types of road and weather conditions and temperatures.
• Responsible to deliver freight as per schedule and company policy.
• Responsible for any trip planning on long haul runs.
• If required to cross border into U.S. obtain a FAST card or have a valid Passport
• Communicate with dispatch according to department procedures regarding pickups, deliveries or inquires.
• Responsible for a required pre-trip inspection ensuring equipment is in safe working order.
• Communicate with shop when maintenance is required.
• Familiar with and carry out all required paperwork according to company policy.
• Familiar with and comply to all hours of service and any other regulations for all jurisdictions operated in.
• Responsible to ensure freight is properly identified / labelled.
• Responsible for loading and unloading of product in a safe, accurate and professional manner.
• Familiar with operations of The Erb Group and comply with company regulations.
• Responsible for the operation of the onboard telematic device which includes the electronic log and communication system for communication with dispatch.
• Responsible to attend Driver Safety meetings.
• All other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 1 year verifiable driving experience on AZ/Class 1 license required (excluding entry level positions).
• Meet the licensing requirements for the specific job opening.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and health survey.
• CVOR, Driver abstract and a copy of a drivers license must be provided at time of interview.
• Employment reference check will be completed.
• Criminal record check will be required.
• Required to pass pre-employment screening program (PSP).
• Required to pass FMCSA Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse results.
• Required to wear PPE (provided by The Erb Group).

WORKING CONDITIONS

May vary from terminal to terminal, but primarily will be:

• The Erb Group is a 24/7 Operation, with runs departing daily.
• Departure times will vary and will be determined by H.O.S. regulations.
• There is no set end time on any given day and work can be up to and including the HOS regulations.
• Drivers can sign up for bid run when posted, if interested, and will be awarded on a seniority bases. Drivers not on a bid run will be considered an Open Board Driver
• Open board drivers are not assigned to a particular dedicated run. These drivers are assigned to runs as dispatched.

AZ International Hwy:

• Majority of work in Canada is Ontario/Quebec.
• Lower 48 States (primarily eastern seaboard for newly hired).
• Western and Eastern Canada (with a possible reload out of the U.S.).
• Certain terminals require you to be gone for a minimum of 10-14 days at a time.
