Position Summary :

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring that all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and safely while providing pharmaceutical patient care ensuring the highest level of therapeutic appropriateness for patients. With professional knowledge, experience and a compassionate nature, the Pharmacist will bring a specialized approach to our team and clients.

Located : 1176 Franklin's Gull Road, Parksville, 15-20 minute drive from Nanaimo

Hours : Monday - Friday 9am-5 : 30pm.

Compensation : $60.00 to $65.00 per hour

Actual pay rate will be based on the individual candidate’s credentials and experience for the role with CareRx

Your Day to Day :

• Dispenses prescriptions, including computer entry, triage of new orders, collation of data and clinical reviews
• Providing professional functions related to dispensing including pharmaceutical care, patient counselling, Professional Opinions, liaising with other healthcare professionals and documenting interventions and dialogue
• Providing supervision and leadership in the dispensary while on duty
• Evaluates appropriateness of prescription orders with consideration for patient safety and legal requirements
• Completes third party adjudications necessary to complete prescriptions
• Coordinates and supervises the non-sterile compounding and dispensing of drugs according to medication orders issued by authorized medical care providers and is responsible for the timely processing of medication orders and the distribution of medications
• Blister pack checking and pouch packaging dispensing system checking
• Maintains confidentiality and protects personal and organization information at all times
• Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members
• Participates in an on-call rotation
• Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction
• Setting high standards of performance for self and others

Qualifications / Requirements

Licensed and in good standing with the British Columbia College of Pharmacists, expected to adhere to the Standards of Practice with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia

Participation in an on-call rotation

Experience with KROLL Pharmacy software an asset

Injection Certified
