Qualifications

The Senior Test Engineering Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans for the Telesat Lightspeed constellation communication system. They will participate in testing and integration activities across the Telesat LEO system with vendors and partners.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Issue recommendations and influence system verification and validation processes for the Telesat Lightspeed system.
  2. Develop verification matrices for systems and subsystems against requirements.
  3. Coordinate and participate in system-level testing, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  4. Serve as a SATCOM or Networking SME and support technical staff as required.
  5. Develop and maintain test cases and test beds for various testing scenarios.
  6. Conduct hands-on testing in the LEO Lab for data path and routing features.
  7. Collaborate with DevOps, Ground Systems, Satellite teams, fostering an innovative environment.
  8. Participate in component and subsystem design and testing activities.
  9. Configure test equipment such as Satellite Link Emulators, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and traffic generators.
  10. Ensure products meet technical, functional, performance, and business requirements.
  11. Lead test campaigns with partners and vendors.
Education & Experience Required
  1. B.Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering with at least 15 years of satellite communication experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of modulation and coding standards like DVB-S2X, TDMA, DVB-RCS2.
  3. Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, satellite channel emulators).
  4. Solid understanding of Linux, IP, and Routing Protocols.
  5. Knowledge of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation, and coding impacting satellite link performance.
  6. Experience with test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama).
  7. Effective communication skills with management, engineering teams, and partners.
  8. Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  9. Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
Additional Qualifications
  1. Experience with traffic generators like Ixia, Spirent.
  2. Collaborative team player with the ability to earn trust quickly.
  3. Experience with MEF standards.
  4. Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Automation experience with Python.

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
