Position Overview

The Lethbridge Police Service is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent position of IT Service Desk Support Technician. This role involves technical work including the implementation, administration, maintenance, and documentation of LPS business applications. It ensures high availability in a 24/7 emergency environment. The position serves as the primary contact for IT support, managing calls, providing Tier I support, and maintaining hardware and software inventories.

Employment Details
  • Wage: $40.24 per hour (2025 rate)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week (Flexible/Compressed work week available)
  • Benefits: Competitive package including health care spending account and pension plan (LAPP)
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide frontline support via phone, email, or in person for workstation hardware and applications.
  • Assist users with technical issues, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and monitor request progress.
  • Maintain and update service request systems with detailed resolution notes.
  • Train users and recommend IT solutions.
  • Install and configure workstations, peripherals, and software.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Monitor system health and verify hardware and system integrity.
  • Assist with procurement and testing of new hardware and software.
  • Manage and support specialized policing systems as directed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent + up to two years post-secondary education in IT or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience supporting Microsoft desktop environments, networks, and mobile devices.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Knowledge of network security and online meeting technologies.
Additional Requirements

The successful candidate must consent to a police security clearance, including background checks, polygraph, and reference verification.
