Job summary

Extendicare Michener Hill in Red Deer, Alberta, is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse to provide resident care in a continuing care setting. You will ensure care aligns with nursing standards and physicians’ orders while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

You will lead a Health Care Aide, mentor staff, and participate in developing individualized care plans, requiring strong communication and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Program.
• Registered in good standing with CLPNA.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Job Description Candidates are invited to apply for the position detailed below Extendicare Michener Hill, a continuing care facility located in Red Deer Alberta. This facility is home to 220 Continuing Care beds and 60 Designated Assisted Living Beds.

Reporting

Reporting to: Director of Care

Responsibilities

• Ensure resident care is provided within established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies
• Use the Nursing Process of Assessment, Plan, Implement and Evaluate a resident health and develop individualized resident care plans
• Plans, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of the Health Care Aide
• Assists in orientating, mentoring and competency development of staff
• Demonstrates leadership skills
• Graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Program
• Registered in good standing with CLPNA
• Caring, compassionate, dependable, ethical and mature
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to manage stressful situations
• Critical thinking skills
• Good time management skills to work in fast paced environment
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Current CPR and First Aide Experience with MDS-RAI assessments
