Job summary

Extendicare Michener Hill in Red Deer, Alberta, is seeking a part-time Health Care Aide to provide compassionate personal care and daily living support to residents. Job Description Candidates are invited to apply for the position detailed below Extendicare Michener Hill, a continuing care facility located in Red Deer Alberta. This facility is home to 220 Continuing Care beds and 60 Designated Assisted Living Beds. Reporting to: Director of Care

Responsibilities

• Provide personal assistance and support services for residents
• Provide essential and important daily living support and comfort to residents including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting and all other ADL’s.
• Communicate resident care needs, observations and concerns to professional staff.
• Involved in the orientation and mentorship of new HCA staff and students
• Interact with residents/families and other team members regarding any care needs
• Work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team Health Care Aide Certification or subsequent equivalency required (LPN students who have completed first year, BScN students who have completed second year)
• Experience working within a long-term care setting an asset
• Strong organization, time management and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the team
• Strong communication skills --- ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
