Job description

We are looking to hire an experienced Cable Installer to install and maintain cabling systems for our customers. In this role, you will be required to assess the customer's needs, lay the required cables, and assist with installing cabled equipment. You may also be required to troubleshoot networking or equipment issues and basic mechanical issues with equipment.


To ensure success as a Cable Installer, you should have expert knowledge of computer networking & security systems, advanced troubleshooting skills, and high-level interpersonal skills. A top-notch Cable Installer works quickly and efficiently while maintaining strong customer relations.


Cable Installer Responsibilities:

  1. Meeting with customers to discuss their cabling needs.
  2. Mapping out the area and assessing equipment requirements.
  3. Installing cables in homes and offices.
  4. Identifying and removing old or redundant cables.
  5. Troubleshooting cable and network issues.
  6. Assisting with the setup of equipment, including televisions, routers, telephones, computers, and security equipment.
  7. Troubleshooting cable and equipment malfunctions.
  8. Time management and scheduling.
  9. Providing basic operating instructions.
  10. Completing job reports.
  11. Maintaining stock levels at the office and in the vehicle.

Cable Installer Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Previous work experience as a Cable Technician or Cable Installer for more than 3 years.
  3. Advanced knowledge of network & security systems and electrical equipment.
  4. Knowledge of electrical systems.
  5. Knowledge of alarms & access control.
  6. Knowledge of CCTV.
  7. Knowledge of data cabling.
  8. Good interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to work independently.
  10. Ability to travel.
  11. Working at heights (ladders & scissor lifts).
  12. Industry-specific tools.
  13. Mechanically inclined.
  14. Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  15. Experience with EMT, wire mold, etc.
  16. Ability to work in cramped spaces.
