Reporting To

Drives & Motors Service Operations Manager

Role and Responsibilities

ABB's Drives Systems team delivers solutions and services to maximize customer investment. Responsibilities include:

  1. Service Delivery: Diagnose and repair low voltage drives to optimal condition.
  2. Cost Estimation: Provide accurate repair cost estimates, including parts and labor.
  3. Customer Interaction: Communicate repair needs, procedures, and estimates effectively.
  4. Documentation: Keep detailed records of repairs and activities.
  5. Compliance: Follow industry standards, safety regulations, and policies.
  6. Work Management: Independently or as part of a team, possibly directing technicians.
  7. Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine checks at customer sites to prevent failures.
  8. Financial Responsibility: Balance customer satisfaction with profitability in a P&L context.
Work Environment

Primarily in a workshop, with occasional travel to customer sites, including industrial and commercial settings.

Customer Approach

Ensure customer satisfaction through quality repair work, maintain good relationships, and identify new product opportunities.

Materials and Supply

Coordinate and ensure availability of materials, parts, and equipment.

Documentation and Reports

Prepare necessary documents and reports, follow up as needed.

Troubleshooting

Diagnose equipment failures and suggest solutions to prevent recurrence.

Operational Excellence

Recommend improvements to management for better operations and customer service.

Health, Safety, and Integrity

Follow safety practices, report unsafe acts and incidents.

Qualifications
  • Technical diploma/certification in electronics or related field preferred.
  • Experience in repairing low voltage drives or similar equipment.
  • Certifications in low voltage systems/electronics.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles or field service.
  • Strong customer focus, interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in English communication, report writing, and speaking.
  • Strong diagnostic skills, troubleshooting, and use of repair tools.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs, work in various environments, and travel locally.
