The Loss Prevention Specialist will support the Loss Prevention Manager to achieve department goals, focusing primarily on improving operational controls and compliance in key risk areas such as cash controls, pricing accuracy, security measures, and other company standards and regulations. This is a 6-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of policies and procedures to reduce company risk and losses while maintaining high standards of customer and employee experience.
- Find and implement innovative solutions to support clinics and hospitals, minimizing business risk through improved security and awareness.
- Assist in developing and executing an end-to-end Loss Prevention Strategy to safeguard company assets.
- Support change management related to Loss Prevention policies.
- Provide case summaries and SOP recommendations to help reduce cash loss from future incidents.
- Train and educate Practice Leadership teams on SOPs impacting operational performance.
- Help the business achieve performance objectives by improving safety and reducing risks.
Cash Controls
- Manage operational performance through KPI tracking and reporting.
- Document policies on pricing, discounts, refunds, transaction types, e-commerce, and virtual terminals.
- Assist Practice Leadership in reducing refunds and discounts, identifying fraudulent transactions, addressing chargebacks, and managing POS risks.
- Ensure physical and digital security of POS terminals.
Incident Prevention and Resolution
- Collaborate with the Loss Prevention Manager and support teams to identify incident root causes and create risk assessments.
- Manage incident intake, triage, and resolution across the organization.
- Recommend insurance policies to minimize P&L impact and maintain good standing with insurers.
- Lead hospital security strategies, including CCTV, security systems, locks, and safes, with ROI considerations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the Veterinary Industry.
- Experience with Practice Management Software.
- Wicklander-Zulawski Interview Certification (or comparable) is an asset.
- Experience with relevant technology and equipment (CCTV, access control, alarms, locks, keys).
- Ability to conduct unbiased investigations and assessments.
- Efficient in prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual skills are preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
