Loss Control Specialist - Personal Lines

Job Description

As a Verisk Loss Control Specialist, you will evaluate residential sites for multiple lines of insurance coverage, loss prevention, and risk assessment. You will assist insurers in their policy underwriting and pricing decisions through onsite observations and reporting. This is a full-time position where you will use effective planning and organizational skills to schedule and complete residential / personal lines site visits and reports. You’ll get to witness a variety of properties through the lens of the insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct on-site visits, complete reports to evaluate risk, identify occupancy types, construction materials, fire protection systems, and safety measures, and develop safety and loss control recommendations.
  • Represent Verisk and our customers professionally via phone, in person, and written correspondence.
  • Ensure data quality by providing detailed, accurate, and customer-centric reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Risk Management, Insurance, Construction Management, Property and Liability Insurance, Safety, or related fields. Experience in insurance loss control, underwriting, claims, property inspections, or safety occupations is preferred.
  • Fluent in French and English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficient with technology, MS Office, mobile devices, and capable of working with measurements and data collection.
  • Self-motivated with effective planning and scheduling skills, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor site visits, and handle physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, and driving.
  • Professional designations such as CIP, PEng, CRM, CRA, AACI, or EIT are a plus.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed within the geographic territory.
  • Ability to learn and apply training via virtual or in-person methods.
  • Remote work environment with high-speed internet, residing near the designated territory.
