Job summary

Impact Freight Services Inc in Calgary, AB is seeking a long haul truck driver for permanent, full-time on-site work. You will operate and drive trucks to transport goods, perform pre-trip inspections, load and unload, and ensure safety of cargo.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Drive long-haul routes and operate straight or articulated trucks to transport goods.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle.
• Load and unload goods and ensure safety and security of cargo.
• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using GPS to minimize fuel consumption.
• Address customers' complaints or concerns and provide professional customer service.
• Tarp and secure cargo; monitor vehicle condition and perform routine maintenance.

Tasks

• Calculate fixed assets and depreciation
• Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed
• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Address customers' complaints or concerns
• Mountain driving expertise
• Professionalism in customer service
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform emergency roadside repairs
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
