Job summary

DEOL ROAD CARRIER LTD in Ontario is seeking a full-time permanent truck driver to operate straight or articulated vehicles and join a two-person team or convoy. You will load/unload goods and must hold an AZ class license, with on-site work at Belle River.

Responsibilities include route planning with GPS, obtaining permits for international cargo, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, plus maintaining records of hours, distance and fuel. Overtime and flexible hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• Experience an asset.
• Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Tasks

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform emergency roadside repairs
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
• Transport and handle dangerous goods
