Job summary

New Way Trucking Ltd. is seeking a professional truck driver for on-the-road work in Alberta. We provide training for the right candidate and may operate in two-person convoys. Responsibilities include loading and unloading, pre-trip inspections, and clear communication with dispatch.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate.

• Will train for applicants with no prior trucking experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes using GPS to minimize fuel consumption.
• Drive in two-person team or convoy.
• Load and unload goods.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections.
• Relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo details, hours of service and fuel use.
• Tarp and secure cargo.

Tasks

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
