Job Overview

This position supports the Genuine Merchant Strategy by assisting Logistics and Operations Managers in supervising the overall performance of Logistics, including Receiving, Shipping, Transportation, Flow, and Return Logistics. The Logistics Supervisor provides on-shift supervision of Operations and Inventory Control, coaches team members to maximize productivity, customer service, and compliance with company procedures, including Food Safety and Health & Safety. The goal is to deliver high service levels to internal and external customers while minimizing costs. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining daily KPIs, reporting to management, and suggesting improvements.

Accountabilities: Leadership and People Management

• Demonstrate leadership and uphold company values of Honesty, Trustworthiness, and Mutual Respect.
• Assist in motivating, developing, and providing feedback to team members; conduct performance appraisals.
• Ensure team compliance with policies, including health & safety, loss prevention, and food safety.
• Coach, train, and discipline team members to maintain high productivity and product knowledge.
• Conduct regular team huddles for communication on initiatives and changes.
• Support team activities such as shipping, receiving, and dispatching as needed.
• Identify and nurture talent pools within the team.
• Step in temporarily for the Logistics Manager when absent.
• Provide operational guidance to Lead Hands and team members based on business needs.
• Complete systematic shipping and operational tasks using WMS and TMS systems.
• Maintain updated reports and trackers.

Safety, Equipment, Sanitation, Security

• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
• Model and promote health and safety standards.
• Ensure team adherence to safety and sanitation procedures.
• Monitor and maintain equipment and transportation fleet safety and functionality.
• Execute trailer cleaning and temperature control inspections.

Implementing Warehouse Initiatives

• Support the implementation of logistics initiatives aligned with the Genuine Merchant Strategy.
• Communicate initiatives effectively to the team and address concerns professionally.
• Act as a change agent and support managerial duties in their absence.
• Coordinate with other departments and support business needs.

Logistics Operations: Shipping, Receiving, Transportation, Flow

• Supervise inbound and outbound shipment activities, ensuring productivity and accuracy.
• Identify trends and adjust workforce accordingly.
• Coach team members to meet productivity targets.
• Coordinate with vendors and supply chain teams regarding scheduling and documentation.
• Maintain vendor performance KPIs and improve processes.
• Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of paperwork.
• Manage store-to-store transfers, trailer loading, and security.
• Optimize trailer space and coordinate delivery schedules.
• Interact with 3PL partners and manage invoices and returns.
• Maintain equipment and coordinate with stores on delivery and delays.
• Create work schedules and ensure cross-training of team members.
• Address operational barriers and support team resources and problem-solving.
• Train staff, conduct performance reviews, and handle communication professionally.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed for shipping, receiving, safety, and operations.

Quality

• Ensure shipments are complete, damage-free, and timely.
• Reduce misdirects and maintain proper trailer temperature controls.
• Ensure proper wrapping, separation of sensitive products, and accuracy in shipments.

Customer Service

• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ensure timely responses to delivery inquiries and accurate tracking.

Policies and Procedures

• Implement and train team on all relevant policies, including SOPs, health & safety, WHMIS, Food Safety, Loss Prevention, and HR policies.

Organizational Health and Food Safety

• Promote a safety-first culture and support safety initiatives.
• Address safety concerns proactively and model safe work practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Post-secondary education and at least 5 years of distribution experience.
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
• Proven leadership skills and training.
• Understanding of warehouse, logistics, and traffic operations.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance, employment standards, and safety practices.
• Ability to coach, develop, and certify team members in material handling equipment.

Working Conditions

• Work in a warehouse environment with office participation.
