This is a critical role where your expertise in planning, stakeholder management and continuous improvement will contribute directly to successful operation of NCIG’s coal export terminal. As Logistics Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating rail, shipping and stockyard planning activities to ensure smooth, efficient, and reliable terminal operations.
This customer-facing role requires a high level of service orientation, attention to detail, and collaborative problem solving. Reporting to the Logistics Superintendent, you will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners such as Shippers, the Port of Newcastle, and the Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator (HVCCC) to deliver best-in-class logistics solutions to NCIG customers.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
• Plan and manage daily logistics including shipping schedules, vessel nominations, load plans, and stockpile movements • Coordinate logistics planning with maintenance to minimise operational disruptions
• Review systems to effectively manage the terminal production and storage capacity
• Analyse production efficiency data and drive continuous improvement in logistics performance
• Build strong, trusting relationships with customers and supply chain partners
• Provide consistent high level of customer service and develop effective relationships with NCIG stakeholders
• Effectively escalate and communicate potential issues and constraints with the relevant stakeholder
• Support a positive team environment aligned with NCIG values and business goals.
CANDIDATES:
This role is ideally suited to candidates with the following skills and experience:
• Previous experience in logistics, operations or supply chain planning
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Logistics or Engineering would be well regarded
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with integrated planning processes
• Proven experience in a customer-facing role with a strong passion for delivering exceptional service and building lasting client relationships
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Team player with a proactive and collaborative mindset who enjoys helping others succeed.
