Job summary

Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario is hiring a part-time Logistics and Nutrition Assistant to support patient meals, food preparation, delivery, sanitation, and transportation of clients and supplies.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalency required or equivalent.
• Completion of the National Food Safety Training Certificate Program preferred.
• Six months’ experience in institutional food services preferred.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license Class G (Class F preferred) and clean abstract.
• Experience using computerized systems and HACCP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in provision of centralized and decentralized meal service for patients/clients.
• Help with routine food preparation tasks and equipment operation.
• Maintain cleanliness of food service areas and equipment per standards.
• Perform HACCP temperature checks and related documentation.
• Drive community clients to appointments using Providence Care vehicle as assigned.

Working as a collaborative team member, the Logistics and Nutrition Assistant performs various duties including food and nutrition preparation, delivery, cleaning and sanitation processes; portering patients/clients/equipment/supplies; and providing transportation services for outpatients/clients.

Skills And Qualifications Required

• Minimum of Ontario Secondary School Grade 12 equivalency
• Completion of the requirements for the National Food Safety Training Certificate Program, preferred
• Six months’ work experience in an institutional food services environment, preferred
• Experience working with HACCP guidelines, preferred
• Valid Ontario driver’s license Class G, and clear driver’s abstract; Class F, preferred
• Experience using computerized systems

Position Responsibilities

• Assists in provision of food services for centralized and decentralized meal service for patient/clients.
• Assists with routine food preparation tasks.
• Operates a variety of equipment such as dish machine, food chopper, toaster, and the transport vehicle as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness by cleaning and sanitizing food service equipment, work surfaces, delivery carts or denest, dining tables, storage areas and pot areas
• Performs inventory control and quality standard related duties by completing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Temperature procedure guidelines at every meal and completing related documentation
• Drives community clients to community appointments, as assigned, and temporarily until client independence with community travel is consolidated as per client service plan
• F licensed drivers, will drive community clients using Providence Care accessible bus or 12 passenger van
