Job summary

SYSTRA Canada, part of the SYSTRA group, is seeking a logistics intern to assist the purchasing team with procurement, logistics and delivery coordination. You will monitor suppliers, update delivery data and support planning for production parts.

Pursuing a university degree in logistics or related field, with no experience required. Proficiency in Excel and Word, plus bilingual French/English communication, will help you interact with suppliers and internal teams in Montreal.

Responsibilities

  • Help monitor suppliers and service providers.
  • Assist in updating delivery and tracking information in internal systems.
  • Support planning of requirements for purchased parts to support production activities and spare parts needs.
  • Verify and maintain planning data.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and monitoring of performance indicators.
  • Participate in logistics data analysis to identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
  • Support monitoring of risks that could affect material flows.
  • Support preparation and monitoring of logistics activities.
  • Track delivery status of parts to facilitate communication with internal teams.

SYSTRA Canada is part of the SYSTRA group, an international consulting and engineering group, a world leader in the design of transport infrastructures. SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.

Context

The logistics intern assists the purchasing team with the administrative and operational management of activities related to procurement, logistics, and delivery coordination.

Missions/Main Duties
  • Help monitor suppliers and service providers;
  • Assist in updating delivery and tracking information in internal systems;
  • Support the team in planning the requirements for purchased parts to support production activities and spare parts needs;
  • Verify and maintain certain planning data;
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and the monitoring of certain performance indicators;
  • Participate in the analysis of logistics data to identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement;
  • Support the team in monitoring risks that could affect material flows;
  • Support the preparation and monitoring of logistics activities;
  • Track the delivery status of parts as needed to facilitate communication with internal teams.
Profile/Skills

Education: Currently pursuing a university degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, operations management, or a related field.

Years of experience: No experience required. Initial experience in internships, coordination, customer service, or administrative support is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word;
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills;
  • Ability to learn how to use ERP systems or procurement tools;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work meticulously and ensure proper tracking of information.

Personal Qualities

  • Attention to detail when identifying and ordering parts;
  • Proactivity and a willingness to learn;
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with suppliers and internal teams;
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, in French and English*
