About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Casual Logistics Attendant to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team.

The Supply Chain Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services byproviding technical assistance and maintaining the laboratory, all laboratory equipment and test instruments. In this role, you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the delivery of products, processes and services that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians.

Formula for success

  • Applying your incredible attention to detail, you will verify shipping and receiving of products / resolves discrepancies with buyers efficiently; you will also be responsible for the daily documentation for resupply of fridges / freezers and monthly cleaning, and performing physical inventory counts / stock rotation as per expiry dates / product recall.
  • Using your amazing organizational skills, you will organize and maintain warehouse and dock area for efficiency / cleanliness, as well as maintain documentation of critical supplies batch numbers / quantities received.
  • With your commitment to safety and quality, you will ensure Preventative Maintenance / replacement (of faulty) Equipment / Calibration (as required), as well as ensure the proper handling / accurate accounting of biohazard containers for off-site removal and destruction.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Desired education and skills

  • Grade 12 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, such as forklift.
  • Ability to keyboard 35 w.p.m.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Lifting supplies and equipment that may exceed 10 kilograms, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling and crouching.

What you can expect

  • Shifts are currently Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700, and Saturday to Sunday 0700 - 1500.
