Role Overview

As aConsultant in ENT Surgery , you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ENT services across the Trust. You'll work closely with our established team to deliver high-quality care to both adult and paediatric patients. This full-time post comprises initially of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs)but offers flexibility for part-time applicants.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Providegeneral ENT surgical services, with an opportunity to develop subspecialty interests such asRhinology,LaryngologyorPaediatric ENT Surgery.
  • Performoutpatient clinics,operating theatre sessions,virtual RAS clinics, and shareon-call dutieson a1:6 rota.
  • Engage inteaching,clinical governance, andresearch, contributing to the development of our future workforce.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • FRCS or equivalent
  • Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise
  • Specialist registration for ENT (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK)
  • Other higher degree (PhD, Masters)
Experience and Achievements
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the ENT specialty
  • Understanding current issues within ENT and the future direction of the specialty
  • Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
  • Attendance at a recognised management course
  • Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions
Teaching and Training
  • Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.
  • Training in clinical and educational supervision
  • Attendance at a teaching course
  • Formal qualification in teaching/education
Audit and Research
  • Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications Critical Appraisal Skills
  • Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects

  • An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required with the Disclosure and Barring Service
