Job Title:Locomotive Mechanic

Overview:
The locomotive mechanic will be responsible for performing repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds of engines and other related components, ensuring the quality of the finished product.

What you will be doing:

  • Carry out repairs, reconditioning, and rebuilding of diesel engines, water pumps, oil pumps,andradiators;

  • Install large components such as gearboxes, pumps, engines, or hydraulic components;

  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, installations, or elements using hand or power tools;

  • Test repaired equipment to ensure it operates correctly and that repairs meet customer requirements;

  • Perform other routine maintenance tasks;

  • Maintain work accessories and tools;

  • Moveandalignsubassembliesandcomponentsusingliftingandhandling equipment, including overhead cranes;

  • Inspect the quality of completed work.

What you must have:

  • Hold a vocational diploma (DEP) in industrial/diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle mechanics;

  • Have 2 years of professional experience;

  • Experience working on locomotives (an asset);

  • Experience with precision instruments (micrometer, caliper, etc.) (an asset);

  • Comfortable communicating in French or English;

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team;

  • Good manual skills in mechanics and comfortable using all kinds of power tools;

  • Able to read blueprints and perform basic calculations;

  • Willing to learn and develop skills;

  • Able to read and understand written English due to procedures and terminology used in the railway industry;

  • Willing to work in difficult conditions: heat and cold, noise, dust, odors, confined spaces, and/or at heights;

  • Flexible regarding the tasks to be performed;

  • Abletoworkstandingupandtoliftmoderatelyheavyloads.

Salary/Rate Range: $23.07 – $28.21
