Job Description

The Loader/Yard Operator is responsible for a variety of daily tasks that support the efficient operation of the Ready-Mix facility. The duties include:

• Running and monitoring the boiler system in cold months, including boiler tests
• Forming and stripping of returned concrete blocks
• Yard housekeeping and snow removal
• Receiving and inspecting aggregates
• Daily fuel dip/measurement
• Minor plant maintenance, lubrication, and equipment servicing
• Maintaining the washout pit and drying bay
• Operating the loader
• Cleaning and shoveling under belts

Additional Responsibilities

Other duties include:

• Forming concrete blocks from excess concrete
• Inspecting plant equipment and conveyor belts
• Performing in-yard concrete testing (air, temperature, slump)
• Reclaiming slurry water and managing washout water cycles
• Conducting daily inspections and maintenance on loader and other equipment

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Driver's License
• OSSGD or equivalent
• Passing grades on Mechanical Aptitude, Math Skills, and Literacy tests
• Experience operating mobile material handling equipment (certification to operate the loader to be obtained within a reasonable period)
