Loader Operator (Pipe Crew) – Atlantic Road Construction & Paving

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in mass excavation, drilling and blasting, pipe and underground utility, concrete placement and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire experienced individuals to join our growing team in the HRM. Reporting to the Site Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating a loader on one of our pipe crews.

Requirements:

  • Experience operating a loader non-negotiable.
  • Experience working with a pipe crew is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required.
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
  • Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
  • Other duties as required
