Job Summary

The Loader Operator is a full-time, seasonal position, responsible for loading asphalt plant feeder bins with aggregate for the production of asphalt for paving crews.

Main Responsibilities

1. Load plant feeder bins with aggregate for the production of asphalt.
2. Assist with stockpiling of aggregate into correct piles to maintain material consistency.
3. Work with ground personnel in the maintenance and clean up around the plant site.
4. Lift and place equipment/materials during plant maintenance and servicing.
5. Responsible for the safe operation and condition of a rubber tire loader.
6. Responsible for fueling, servicing, and inspections of loaders at the plant.
7. Promptly report any possible problems or defects with loader or plant.
8. Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
9. Follow directions of Plant Operator/Supervisor regarding plant operation.
10. Ensure that equipment and operations meet OH&S and other legislative requirements.
11. Perform work in an outdoor construction site setting.
12. Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image.
13. Communicate effectively with both SG employees, other site representatives and the public.
14. Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Certifications
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5).
• Own transportation.

Work Experience
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience.

Technical Skills
• Ability to operate 980 Cat loader.
• Ability to load 400 tonnes of aggregate an hour.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Working Conditions

1. Overtime as required.
2. Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
3. Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, and strenuous movements.
4. Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
5. Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
6. Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
7. Must comply with all company policies.
