Job summary

InterRent REIT is seeking a Live-In Maintenance Technician to join our Operations team at 100 Main Street, Hamilton. This hands-on role focuses on safety, high-quality maintenance, and delivering exceptional service to residents.

You will live on-site, perform repairs and preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and ensure common areas and amenities are in excellent condition. A valid G license, own tools, and ability to work both independently and in a team are required.

• General understanding of residential building systems incl. HVAC, plumbing, heating.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs to rental properties as needed (turnovers).

InterRent REIT is looking for a Live-In Maintenance Technician to join our Operations team at our 100 Main Street community in Downtown Hamilton. We're seeking a skilled and dependable maintenance professional with a customer-first mindset and a passion for creating exceptional living environments. In this hands-on role, you'll help ensure our community remains safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently while delivering outstanding service and support to our residents.

As a Live-In Maintenance Technician, you'll have the unique opportunity to live and work at 100 Main, experiencing firsthand what makes this community a great place to call home. Located in the heart of downtown Hamilton, 100 Main is a high-rise residential community featuring spacious one- and two-bedroom suites, modern renovations, private balconies, and stunning city views. Compensation

• $35,000 - $40,000 per year + housing benefit (free apartment, hot water & heat).
• Three weeks of paid vacation annually, starting on day 1 of employment.

Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities typically expected of a maintenance professional, responsibilities will include:

• Performing repairs to rental properties as needed, during occupancy and during the transition of residents from units (turnovers).
• Performing routine and scheduled preventative maintenance of properties.
• Maintaining general upkeep of the properties to ensure all amenities are in good working order and operating to the satisfaction of our residents.
• Responding to emergency calls.
• Completing all approved maintenance related work orders.
• Taking initiative when corrective action is necessary and removing any identified hazards.
• Painting as necessary.
• Ensuring a thorough knowledge and understanding of all health, safety and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge and professional experience in a wide variety of residential maintenance and light renovation tasks.
• General understanding of residential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
• Experience in performing basic appliance and fixture repairs is considered a strong asset.
• Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.

Additional Information

• Most work will be completed on-site at 100 Main Street E, Hamilton, ON. The successful candidate may be required to work at other locations based on operational needs and at the discretion of the employer.
• Must have valid, class G driver’s license, access to personal vehicle, and clean drivers abstract.
• Must have tools necessary to complete basic maintenance tasks. Any specialty tools required will be provided by the employer.
• Ability to respond to emergencies during regular operating hours.
• Participation in an after-hours rotational response team may be required.
