POSITION OVERVIEW

Directly supporting adults referred by Community Living of BC (CLBC) with neurodevelopmental disabilities and complex neurologically-based behaviours. Responsibilities include assessing needs, establishing service goals, supporting activities of daily living, and working independently in clients' homes and communities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complete duties under the direction of the Director of Community Living Services, following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide home-based and community-based support.
  • Recognize and address challenging and emergent situations.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with CLBC facilitators, clients, families, and stakeholders to develop and implement service plans and goals.
  • Promote independence, safety, and quality of life.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including appointments, budgeting, shopping, and meal planning.
  • Apply harm reduction and strength-based approaches, and contribute to positive behavioral support frameworks.
  • Exercise professional boundaries and good judgment.
  • Co-facilitate therapeutic, recreational, and educational activities as needed.
  • Support general office tasks and committee work as part of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma/degree in a related human/social services field (e.g., Social Work).
  • At least one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Naloxone training and Mental Health First Aid are assets.
  • Ability to write factual reports, keep accurate records, and communicate effectively.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, clean driving record, insurance, and access to a vehicle.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Adults (arranged upon hiring).
  • Proof of COVID-19 immunization required.
