Impact Recruitment is proud to be working a highly respected Ottawa law firm known for its sophisticated commercial litigation practice. We’re seeking an experienced Litigation Law Clerk who can step into a key role supporting a busy legal team.

About the Opportunity:

The successful candidate will play a central role in file and document management, court preparation, and supporting counsel in delivering exceptional legal services to clients. This is not an entry-level position—our client is seeking someone who can contribute from day one.

About the Position:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Opening, maintaining, and closing client files (both electronic and hard copy)
  • Drafting and formatting legal documents, court materials, and correspondence with strong attention to detail
  • Assembling and filing court documents (electronic and physical) in accordance with procedural rules
  • Managing electronic organization of all documents and compliance with court filing procedures
  • Scheduling appointments, conference calls, and managing lawyers’ calendars
  • Docketing, preparing and delivering invoices, and following up on outstanding accounts
  • Drafting internal and external communications (emails, letters, memos)
  • Supporting lawyers with dictation, photocopying, scanning, and general administrative tasks
  • Tracking deadlines and managing the bring-forward (BF) system

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a litigation law clerk or senior legal assistant, preferably in commercial litigation
  • Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure; familiarity with the Construction Act and liens is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with ACL and Ghost Practice is considered an asset
  • Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma/certificate is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and dependable with strong initiative
