Job summary

Merovitz Potechin LLP in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Litigation Law Clerk to join our growing team and support lawyers across civil, commercial and estates matters.

You will draft documents, assemble motion records and affidavits, arrange service, file with courts, maintain ACL files, process retainer requests and ensure signed retainers, while upholding strong client service and a collaborative, growth‑oriented workplace.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of litigation, legal assistant or law clerk experience.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Proficiency with ACL Automated Civil Litigation software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong interpersonal and client interaction skills.
• Good time management and multitasking abilities.

Summary of position:

The ideal candidate will assist lawyers with a wide variety of litigation matters, including civil and commercial litigation as well as estates litigation.

Work includes, but is not limited to:

• Drafting documents
• Assembly of motion records, affidavits, other court documents as required
• Arranging for service of documents
• Court filing
• Open and update files and prepare documents in the ACL software
• Complete the Litigation checklist for each file
• Coordinate Bring Forwards (BFs)
• Retainer payment requests
• Ensuring retainer agreement is sent and signed
