Litigation Counsel (1-3 years’ experience)

This position is based in Markham, Ontario, with the option to work remotely 1 day a week. The legal department, comprising 4 lawyers, a paralegal, and a law clerk, seeks a Litigation Counsel to handle pre-litigation disputes and litigation matters including complex customer claims, property damage claims, workplace investigations, and claims against suppliers and competitors.

The role offers opportunities to attend examinations for discovery, motions, mediations, pre-trials, and trials, as well as to draft motions and pleadings, advise on regulatory matters, and develop corporate/legal commercial skills. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, Litigation, the ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of litigation experience, preferably from a reputable law firm or corporation, with assets including experience in employment matters and/or consumer protection law. Strong advocacy, drafting, interpersonal skills, business acumen, strategic thinking, and independence are essential.
