Position overview

Position title: Linguistics Pre-six Lecturer

Salary range: An estimated $8,531-$24,005 (based on salary points 1-36) for a standard five-credit course. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary.

Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.

Anticipated start: Appointments depend on the hiring unit's instructional needs and funding availability. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments from fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025. Appointments outside this period require an alternative open recruitment.

Position duration: Typically during one or more quarters of the academic year (fall, winter, spring), or during Summer Session.

Position description

The Department of Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including core courses in phonetics, phonology, psycholinguistics, semantics, and syntax, as well as elective topics such as linguistic typology, language and social identity, methodology, morphology, pragmatics, or computational linguistics.

The hiring unit will not sponsor employment-eligible immigration statuses for this position.

Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at application submission):

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent) in linguistics or related field.
  • At least two years of university teaching experience.
