Job summary

North York General Hospital is seeking a Transporter in Linen, Support Services to move linen and carts across wards. You will work both independently and in a team, ensuring timely delivery of clean linen and proper handling of soiled linen while upholding patient and staff safety.

This role supports the hospital's academic mandate through teaching and learning, contributing to a safe, efficient environment. Applicants should have Grade 12, strong English communication, and sewing experience.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
• Read, write and speak English.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize.
• Sewing experience.
• Works safely per OHS Act.

Responsibilities

• Delivers clean linen to nursing units, OR, CSS, Clinics, etc., and picks up soiled linen.
• Receives, stores, and distributes linen and uniforms from the Linen Room using the monitoring system.
• Picks up soiled linen bags with empty carts from units/departments and stores in the loading truck.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Labels clothing and performs alterations on staff uniforms.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
