Summary of Duties

Lineman Trainees are responsible for constructing, maintaining, and installing high voltage transmission, catenary, and signal transmission systems.

Essential Functions
  • Attach appurtenances, relocate lines, shift poles, install anchors and foundations, move poles, splice appurtenances, and install power lines and signal systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in heavy physical labor.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to pass safety and department training over 24 months.
  • Proficiency in English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Climbing, rigging, and lineman experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Electrical background or education.
  • Previous electric traction railroad experience.
  • CDL license (preferred).
Work Environment
  • Ability to understand and follow safety protocols and identify risks.
Communication Skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
