Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the transportation of freight with drivers and customers. You will schedule drivers for pickups and deliveries on specific routes, maintain up-to-date records, and review driver logs to check for errors.

The Work Schedule

Night shift, shift work, 75 hours per two weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day communication, via phone and handheld, with an assigned fleet of drivers to ensure proper load instructions are passed along and carried out
  • Manage service concerns to limit exposure and minimize impact to the customer
  • Coordinate maintenance for city tractors and trailers
  • Assist other dispatch staff during spikes in workload
  • Assist with preparing and analyzing various reports
  • Provide drivers with the right information and equipment to ensure a positive customer experience from start to finish
  • Assist with terminal operation inquiries as needed

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience in dispatch (asset)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of AS400 (asset)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision under pressure and time constraints in a stressful environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
