Job description

Role: Line Maintenance Programs: Construction Manager

Location of Services: Edmonds - there will be travel in BC

Work Assignment Overview: Construction Manager to support field-based requirements to manage T-Lines Maintenance Programs (e.g., Fire Risk Mitigation, Inspections, Decommissioning, Repairs, Development of new program pilots).

Estimated Work Start Date: 17-Jun-2025

Estimated Work End Date: 17-Jun-2026

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Max INC Rate: $78.29/hr
Max T4 Rate: $64.70/hr

Experience and Role Accountabilities
  1. A minimum of nine (9) years of construction management experience or equivalent.
  2. Manage the allocation of materials, financial, and human resources using excellent technical skills in construction methodologies, estimating, and contract management to deliver quality projects safely, within budget, and on time.
  3. Ensure work site safety by prioritizing the safe execution of work, performing and providing feedback on Safe Work Observations, and applying knowledge of safety standards and regulations to improve BC Hydro’s safety performance.
  4. Develop comprehensive mitigation plans by identifying, analyzing, and monitoring risks including reputational, environmental, safety, and indigenous relations for effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  5. Contribute to stakeholder engagement through excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasive skills to ensure successful project planning and implementation.
  6. Respond to internal and third-party construction inquiries, utilizing knowledge of project management, engineering, and BC Hydro policies to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and First Nations.
  7. Act as a subject matter expert on committees and project teams to develop future capabilities at BC Hydro.
  8. Support the project team by performing various construction support activities, including managing claims to ensure project completion.
Education and Skills
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Good working knowledge of project management.
  3. Excellent understanding of safety standards and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations.
  4. Advanced English skills for professional environments, both written and spoken.
Work Assignment Requirements

Program and Contract Management (PCM) is seeking an individual to join the team managing T&D Maintenance Programs.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, relevant trades certification, or have appropriate experience managing power system field work.
  • Be familiar with BC Hydro Systems, Processes, Culture, Values, and Language.
  • Possess a strong background in program, project, or construction management.
  • Have experience developing new programs, conducting field audits of vendors, and reporting.
  • Be willing and able to travel and complete field-based assignments, potentially over longer periods.
  • May require helicopter travel (previous experience is an asset; training may be provided at BC Hydro’s cost).
  • May require travel by boat (water taxi, barge, etc.).
  • Maintain a safe and incident-free driving record.
  • Be able to work outdoors in rugged and potentially difficult locations, including walking and hiking.
  • Experience overseeing worksite safety and work crews.
  • May be required to work alone, following safety procedures.
