Line Cooks

La Boîte Bento Asiatique is a startup set to launch in late spring 2025, building a new team dedicated to delivering high-quality, fresh, and affordable Asian-inspired bento meals. We are seeking skilled Cooks who have a passion for Asian cuisine and can thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Cook will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, and maintaining quality standards while ensuring proper food safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in cooking, with knowledge of Asian cuisine. The Cook will report directly to the Kitchen Supervisor and Executive Chef and play a key role in shaping the culinary operations of our growing business.

Work Conditions :

• On-site position (no remote work).
• Full-time, 40 hours / week
• Hourly wage : $18-20 per hour.
• Meals provided during shifts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities :

1. Food Preparation & Cooking

• Prepare and cook dishes according to company recipes and quality standards.
• Ensure all ingredients are properly measured, prepped, and cooked to maintain consistency.
• Execute various cooking techniques common in Asian cuisine (e.g., stir-frying, steaming, grilling, and broiling).
• Maintain food presentation and portion control to meet brand expectations.
• Assist in developing new recipes and improving existing menu items as part of the startup’s innovation process.

2. Kitchen Operations & Teamwork

• Work closely with the Kitchen Supervisor and Executive Chef to support efficient kitchen operations.
• Assist with meal assembly and packaging to meet production and dispatch schedules.
• Support inventory management by tracking ingredient usage and reporting shortages.
• Adapt to a startup environment, contributing ideas to improve kitchen workflow and efficiency.

3. Food Safety & Sanitation Compliance

• Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards to prevent contamination.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all kitchen equipment is sanitized.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations, including temperature control, allergen awareness, and personal hygiene.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, steamers, and rice cookers.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Kitchen Supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures when handling knives, hot surfaces, and heavy equipment.

5. Startup Growth & Adaptability

• Be flexible and adaptable to changes in kitchen operations as the startup grows.
• Provide feedback on efficiency improvements and support process optimization.
• Participate in training sessions and kitchen briefings to enhance skills and contribute to team development.

Qualifications & Skills Required :

• At least 2 years of cooking experience, preferably in an Asian restaurant or kitchen.
• Knowledge of Asian cuisine and cooking techniques.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in food preparation.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to kitchen procedures and startup operations.
