Job summary

A community-focused organization in Manitoba is seeking a full-time, seasonal Line Cook to prepare and cook menu items and maintain kitchen cleanliness. Ideal candidates will have one year of experience in a similar role, appreciate Indigenous culture, and possess relevant culinary qualifications. Qualifications

  • One year’s experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook is an asset.
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture is a definite asset.

Overview

POSTING # 25-15-005
POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME, SEASONAL
The Line Cook plates dishes and completes basic food prepping tasks for the restaurant.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items such as dressings, sauces, appetizers, sides, and entrees;
  • Prep, wash, and chop meal components for larger dishes;
  • Plate meals according to the instructions of the executive chef;
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment;
  • Clean prep station and put away equipment;
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment;
  • Helping manage food inventory which includes rotating stock and putting away orders;
  • Ensuring all food presentations meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality;
  • Assisting with dishwashing when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
  • One year’s experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook is an asset;
  • Experience working with Rational ovens is an asset;
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts is an asset;
  • Food Handlers Certificate is an asset;
  • Experience with various cooking methods and procedures;
  • Familiar with industry best practices;
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and multi tasking skills;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
