Job description

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Line Cook for the Moxy by Marriott in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Job Purpose :

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. Provide warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance to reassure guests they've made the right choice to stay with us.

  1. Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and as specified on guest checks, following company and brand standards to ensure consistency and high guest satisfaction.
  2. Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production.
  3. Visually inspect, select, and use only high-standard food items in the preparation of all menu items.
  4. Check and control proper storage of products and portion control to maintain quality.
  5. Keep refrigeration, equipment, storage, and work areas clean to comply with health regulations.
  6. Maintain good sanitation standards and operate all kitchen equipment properly.
  7. Report maintenance issues promptly and receive and store food and deliveries properly.
  8. Coordinate with kitchen management and other departments related to Food & Beverage.
  9. Participate in hotel programs, inventories, and support guest relations by being approachable and proactive in handling guest concerns.
  10. Adhere to all company SOPs, work rules, and policies, including safety and security procedures.
  11. Handle keys responsibly and be knowledgeable of emergency and security policies.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements :
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt standards preferred.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in the primary language used in the workplace.
  4. Basic math skills and ability to read and follow recipes.
  5. Physical ability to handle kitchen tools and equipment, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various temperature environments.
  6. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
