Full-Time Line Cook – Professional Plant-Based Kitchen

About the Opportunity:

Plant Matter Kitchen is currently seeking a Full-Time Line Cook to join our professional plant-based culinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled cook looking to advance their career in a professional kitchen under the leadership of Executive Chef Oliver.

This position requires formal culinary training, real kitchen experience, and a genuine passion for the culinary craft. We are not seeking entry-level applicants.

  • Full-time position with consistent weekly hours
  • Must have open availability
  • Plant-based kitchen experience is a strong asset (but not mandatory if willing to learn)
  • Located in Wortley Village, London, ON
  • Open-concept kitchen with a highly professional standard of operation
  • Wage is above industry average, based on experience and skill level

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and execute Plant Matter Kitchen’s full menu with precision, including lunch, brunch, dinner, and catering items
  • Accurately build menu items according to detailed prep and plating specifications
  • Taste, season, and adjust dishes to ensure consistent flavour and quality
  • Execute daily prep lists, manage mise en place, and complete production prep for upcoming shifts
  • Maintain full kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and organization to health and safety standards
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, FIFO rotation, and temperature controls
  • Monitor and track inventory levels throughout each shift
  • Add product needs to the kitchen order board and communicate shortages clearly
  • Place produce orders nightly and submit bakery orders as required
  • Assist with managing par levels and ensuring proper product availability for service
  • Remain calm, professional, and focused during high-volume service periods
  • Participate as a full team member in all areas of kitchen operations, contributing to a smooth, efficient, and collaborative work environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Graduate of a recognized culinary program or formal culinary education
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional line cook experience in a busy, high-volume kitchen
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification required
  • Strong knife skills and ability to execute prep and line work at a high level
  • Solid understanding of kitchen systems, prep management, and line organization
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and handle the physical demands of a busy kitchen
  • Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, strong communication, and teamwork skills
  • Passion for cooking, flavour development, and a commitment to delivering a high-quality guest experience
  • Willingness to learn and execute plant-based cooking techniques

About the Kitchen:

This is a professional, open-concept kitchen where quality, consistency, and attention to detail are the foundation of every shift. Plant Matter Kitchen operates at a high standard and expects the same from every member of the team. You will work directly under Executive Chef Oliver, receiving mentorship while contributing to a focused, dedicated kitchen team.
