Alpine Building Maintenance is hiring a Light Duty Cleaner to maintain clean, safe and welcoming spaces at Tsawwassen Mills. The role focuses on food court and common areas, with duties spanning waste handling, floor care, sanitizing and high-traffic area cleaning.

Candidates should be reliable, capable of independent work, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. This is a union position with opportunities to contribute to community cleaning and safety at the shopping centre.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in janitorial services, housekeeping, cleaning, or related environment is considered an asset.
• Strong commitment to delivering excellent service and creating a clean, safe environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift and perform physical tasks during shifts.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by operations.

Responsibilities

• Collect and remove used dishware, trays, and reusable service items from guest seating areas.
• Segregate waste materials at designated stations and ensure proper disposal.
• Perform floor care: sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming of public spaces.
• Clean and sanitize guest seating surfaces, counters and fixtures for the next user.
• Maintain and sanitize high-traffic areas to keep the environment safe.
• Clean and maintain building common areas including bathrooms, elevators, escalators and stairs.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables regularly.
• Complete cleaning, sanitizing and deodorizing of all facilities, including washrooms and client spaces.

Job Type:Full-Time & Part-Time
Hourly Rate: $20.26 / hour
Schedule:Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays

Shift: Between 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM

We're looking for a dedicated and service-oriented light duty cleaner to join the Alpine team. In this role, you'll help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests, retailers, and staff by maintaining the food court and common areas to the highest standards. Your work will play a key part in ensuring every visitor enjoys a positive experience while at the shopping centre.

What You Will Be Doing

• Collect and remove used dishware, trays, and reusable service items from guest seating areas

• Segregate waste materials at designated stations, separating recoverable items and organic matter from soiled service vessels and ensuring correct disposal arrangements

• Perform continuous spot checks and removal of debris or litter from all floor surfaces within the public spaces and circulation zones

• Clean, sanitize, and wipe down all guest seating surfaces, counters, and supporting fixtures and furniture to ensure readiness for the next user

• Clean, disinfect, and sanitize high-touch and high-traffic areas to maintain a safe environment

• Perform comprehensive floor care, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and spot cleaning

• Clean and maintain all building common areas, including hallways, lobbies, bathrooms, elevators, escalators, and stairs

• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from waste bins on a regular basis

• Complete cleaning, sanitizing, and deodorizing of all facilities, with a focus on washrooms and designated client spaces
• Maintain and service client-specific spaces and complete other duties as directed

What You Will Bring

• Previous experience in janitorial services, housekeeping, cleaning, customer service, retail, hospitality, or a similar environment is considered an asset

• A strong commitment to delivering excellent service and creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests

• Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout your shift

• Dependable, punctual, and able to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as operationally required

• Knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) is considered an asset but is not required

• Ability to obtain and maintain any required site-specific security clearances

• Reliable transportation is considered an asset
