The Career.


The Lifestyle Assistant reports to the Lifestyle Manager. In accordance with V!VA’s vision and values, the Lifestyle Assistant is responsible for delivering activities as outlined in the Lifestyle program. You will be an integral part of the Lifestyle team, working to enhance the customer service experience and fostering an innovative environment for team members and volunteers.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver suitable and safe group and individualized activities in accordance with the Lifestyle program, collaborating with volunteers
  • Organize activities, including preparation of materials and environment
  • Assist in planning activities to maintain and improve residents’ quality of life
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activities and individual plans
  • Participate in regular reviews of the Lifestyle program with the Lifestyle Manager
  • Support ethical work practices, respecting residents’ rights and interests, including reporting health changes and inquiries about the program
  • Assist with orientation for new team members and volunteers
  • Help develop the monthly newsletter and activity calendar
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all residents, staff, and volunteers
  • Attend scheduled training and education sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Experience facilitating activation programs in Retirement Living industries
  • Post-secondary education in Recreation, Activation, Healthcare, or related certifications (Personal Training, Fitness Instructor, Aqua Certification)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build professional relationships with residents and their families
  • Respect for residents’ values, customs, and spiritual beliefs
  • Confidentiality commitment
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of older adults
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use
  • Teamwork and initiative
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Valid driver’s license; willingness to obtain Class F (small bus) license is an asset
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, energy
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sit, stand, and stretch for long periods
  • Flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills
