• Lifeguard Hourly Rate: $20.02
• Location: McDonald Family YMCA Health & Fitness Centre
• Work Hours: Varying hours, minimum 3 hours/week
• Employment Type: Contract Part-Time Hourly, 12 Months

Overview

Be the Spark! Join our dynamic team of Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work!

The Instructor Swim Lessons role involves teaching and assessing using YMCA curriculum, developing weekly lesson plans, and maintaining a safe environment.

The Lifeguard role involves ensuring safety and meeting regulatory standards at all times.

Responsibilities

Instructor Swim Lessons

• Adhere to safety procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Deliver lessons and evaluate participants.
• Develop weekly lesson plans tailored to participants' needs.
• Maintain records and communicate progress to parents and staff.
• Set up and take down equipment, ensuring safety and repair.
• Maintain current qualifications and participate in meetings and events.

Lifeguard

• Follow safety procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Enforce pool conduct guidelines and maintain order.
• Manage equipment safety and participate in cleaning duties.
• Keep certifications current and engage in scheduled activities.

General & Qualification Requirements

• Behaviors aligned with YMCA values and commitment to child protection.
• Current certifications in Lifesaving Society awards: NL, First Aid & CPR C.
• Experience in instructing swim lessons or lifeguarding preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
