Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

A Lifeguard/Instructor guards’ patrons, ensures a safe environment and instructs various aquatic courses.

Duties - Union
  • Instructs swimming lessons, develops lesson plans, courses and programs.
  • Guards the public while they swim and ensures safety.
  • Evaluates students and writes progress cards.
  • Receives, records and responds to inquiries and complaints.
  • Responds to first aid situations.
  • Ensures the pool, pool deck, facilities and pool equipment are clean and properly used and stored.
  • Schedules staff.
  • Trains new lifeguard staff and provides leadership and direction.
  • Prepares a variety of documents, drawings, advertising and spreadsheets using various computer programs.
  • Provides ideas and input into brochures and advertising.
