The Position - An Exciting Opportunity to Join a Dynamic Team

We are seeking a Lifeguard I for our Recreation Services team to cover a maternity leave. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor, this role involves lifeguarding, instructing aquatic programs, supervising part-time staff on shift, and enforcing facility use rules. The Lifeguard Instructor I also performs operational, instructional, janitorial, and minor maintenance tasks.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in staff supervision, aquatic instruction as a Lifeguard Instructor I or equivalent, effective interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and strong organizational skills.

Required Licences, Certificates, and Registration include:

• National Lifeguard Award - Pool
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
• LSS Instructor
• Aquatic Fitness [BCRPA] or Aquafit [CFES] Instructor
• Standard First Aid [Red Cross or equivalent]
• CPR – C

This position is covered by the Collective Agreement between the City of Salmon Arm and CUPE 1908. The hourly pay rate is $31.70 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits, until the return of the incumbent. Please see the job description in the Job Details section of this ad.
